Job Description:

This position entails the handling of Butchery Specialist including cutting, preparing, displaying, and selling, while ensuring a favorable image of Whole Foods Market. A critical aspect of the job is providing pleasant, welcoming and expedited assistance to customers and Team Members in adherence to team and store Standard Operating Procedures. Job responsibilities may overlap other job descriptions; therefore, Team Members must demonstrate proficiency in other relevant duties. More importantly, they must embody WFM's core values and goals, support national, regional, and local programs and initiatives, and maintain compliance with relevant health and safety requirements, including departmental specific regulatory duties.

Job Responsibilities:

  • The butcher expertly breaks down the animal to create a range of meat products that are both attractive and enticing.
  • Develops unique meat products such as oven-ready items, sausages, and cured meats.
  • Checking for conformity to WFM's quality criteria, a review of the product is conducted.
  • Maintains sampling program.
  • Observes and prevents spoilage from occurring.
  • Offers guidance and advice to the Meat Cutter Trainee(s) under their supervision.
  • Reaches the work station promptly, suitably attired, well-groomed and primed to begin work. Maintains consistent attendance at scheduled work shifts, mandatory training and meetings.
  • Being able to provide top-notch customer service involves responding to customer needs in a timely manner while also demonstrating up-selling techniques. Additionally, answering phone calls and pages in a prompt and respectful manner is important.
  • Optimizes sales capacity by employing efficacious and accurate methods to arrange, preserve, alternate, furnish, and exhibit items.
  • Ensures that Weights and Measures, sanitation and hygiene norms, and secure working rules are adhered to as per established procedures.
  • Sustains a healthy and neat working and shopping milieu; follows WFM safety and cleanliness guidelines for equipment preservation.
  • Performs the designated duties for the opening, midshift, and closing periods, ensuring precise pricing and signage.
  • Prompt reporting of any safety violations or hazards is necessary.
  • Accomplishes supplementary duties as directed by store, regional, or national management.
